Heroine week at DSC

Apparently this week was awesome comic babe week for the Daily Sketch Challenge group I'm a part of on deviantart here. Here are the pieces I did. I was really excited for each of these, but I only really got what I wanted on the final two, Wonder Woman and Promethea. I'm going to switch back to digital for next weeks pieces I think, simply because I've had a craving to do more work with the Wacom. Enjoy!

Juri for battle-artists

Done for my...4th singles battle at the battle-artist group on deviantart. Juri Han, from Street Fighter 4, a game that I'm still sort of coming to terms with. Probably won't ever be totally satisfied with it (Much preferred the 2d work in SF3, and wasn't happy with some of the design choices in 4) but I do still have fun when I play it, which is only occasionally.

This pose could use some work, but I learned a lot doing the coloring, and I think it's a fun piece. I'm becoming a little bit fonder of the character.

Power Girl all zombified

Another inked image for the tournament at the Battle-Artist group. This was for the first round, I posted out of order here, haha. Check out the final colors here: http://robthesentinel.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d30iqqq

I'm the JUGGERNAUT!

So I'm in a group over at Deviantart called Battle-Artist. We're in the middle of a tournament right now and the theme for the second round was steampunk xmen characters. I decided to do the JUGGERNAUT. (Apparently I have to type his name in all caps for some reason) You can check out the final colored version here: http://battle-artist.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d31csdh

I'm going to try to update this blog daily from now on. I'll post my daily sketch challenge from deviantart if not something else that I whip up.

Save Tali!

A quick Mass Effect fanart page that I did in my oversized sketchbook (hence the crappy photograph instead of clean scan). My Shepard gettin PISSED at some mercs (or something) for hurting Tali. Hm, I wanted to have Garrus in here too, if I get a chance to do a clean version of this I'll put him in, providing more cover fire behind Shepard. Inked with micron and pitt pens.

Blast from the past

Hahaha, wow, ok so these are a few drawings from a high school sketchbook. They're of old versions of comic characters based on my friends, most of which you can see updated versions of on this blog. Funny stuff.

Early Pencils

A penciled page for part of a story I'm trying to put together. I'm the dude with the jacket, and the girl in the dress is a friend of mine. Yes I'm making a comic that stars myself. Sort of. I'm in it, not the star, although that's still pretty douchey. Nonetheless! These pencils are really light and rough because I'm inking them myself. Were I penciling for another inker I'd have much more finished looking lines. Also, that second panel? Yeah just...just ignore that... it'll get re-done. I need to work on my backgrounds. Hard.

DSC sketches May 24-28

So the DSC challenges for this past week were Joe Shusters Superman, Terra, Stargirl, Lightning Lad, and Generator Rex (not in that order, just posting as random jumble). Fun stuff overall, still feel like I need to refine my style and be a bit more consistent. Meh, it's good practice nonetheless.

Apollyon and North sketches

Sketches of my friends characters, Apollyon and North:

Gearing up for another for-fun project starring our avatars (the Grey Sentinel being mine).

Old Sentinel sketches

This is just a quick sketch I did of my comic book avatar, the Sentinel, slightly in the future. He gets his arm shot off at one point, but he gains a much stronger mastery of his telekinetic powers. He uses rock, metal, water, pretty much any material around him to reform his arm stronger than it was before. Just ideas. I had no idea what to make his actual costume, so it was just t-shirt and jeans for the time being, haha.

Daily Sketch Challenges 4 and 5

Daily sketch challenges for May 19, 20, and 21 were a drawing from photo reference of Reese Witherspoon, Thor (modern costume) and a policeman. I think i'm going to start making these weekly posts so that I can just put 5 up at a time instead of posting the ones I do each day. Check out my deviantart site if you want to see them as they go up:

Daily Sketch Challenge 5/16/10

So I joined a group on Deviantart called the Daily Sketch Challenge. They post a different character each day of the week for people to do a quick 15-30 minute sketch of. I'll be posting mine here as well as on DA. This first one was the Death Dealer, a character of the late Frank Frazetta. Also, Ronnie James Dio passed away today, another legend lost. May they rest in peace.

Kaani inks!

This is Kaani, son to Atka! A young waterbender (9 years old I believe), he is learning bending from his mother, and hunting from his father. He is kind hearted and happy. The poor guy is going to be kidnapped, and he'll have to put what teaching he's had to good use. Digital inks. I need to come up with a name for my Avatar fan-project.

Bridget as WW

So I recently developed a major fan-crush on Bridget Regan of the Legend of the Seeker tv show.

I don't know that anyone could really play Wonder Woman in a movie and pull it off, but I think that Bridget is probably the closest to the ideal actress as I've seen. She's got the looks, the stature (well she's relatively tall at least) and she can do action pretty damn well. So this was a quick sketch that I clolored up equally as quick of her in the role. The face is the only likeness, I don't think she's really built QUITE that much but she's still good for the role. I'm sure she'll make some more appearances here later on, haha.

Atka inks

So here's a clean-inked image of my water-tribe hunter that I've been working on. Coloring this is next, and then another clean-line version of his son, who is another major part of the Avatar fan-fic I'm thinking up in my head (mostly to facilitate the creation of these characters...)

Water tribe hunter prelim

A prelim sketch for a water tribe hunter I'm developing for a story/the hell of it. Atka is his name, and he's got a son that I'll be designing too.

He looks slightly pissed...

Jennifer Hale tribute

So I met Jennifer Hale at a comic convention in Anaheim this weekend! If you don't know who she is check out her imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0354937/

If you've played a lot of video games or watched a lot of animation, you've PROBABLY heard her voice. In any case, I nerded the hell out when I saw her, and went home and made her a really quick piece of fan art. She was quite nice and I was glad to meet her.

The characters are Jun the bounty hunter from the Avatar cartoon, female Shepard from Mass Effect, and Jennifer Mui from the Mercenaries series.

Concept stuff for my comic book avatar.

Some hairs.

So I'm trying to work on my digital painting/concepting stuff. I started trying to concept some hair styles for a gorgon character of mine, when I realized I have no clue how to paint hair digitally! Joy! So it's off to seek some tutorials and perhaps steal some brushes, and then come back to this soon.

Just some colors to go with my inks from previous post. Yay spider-people!

Oh Arana, stop attacking Spidey like that.

Gonna color this up sometime soon.
